19th Asian Games: Bahrain bags more gold medals; extends Arab lead

Hangzhou, Oct. 5 (BNA): Bahraini athletes today bagged two more gold medals on the penultimate day of athletics competitions at the ongoing 19th Asian Games, increasing the kingdom’s tally to 15 medals in total so far, and extending its Arab lead.
With nine gold medals, Bahrain is now ranked second behind hosts China, in athletics, and is well-placed to add more medals during the final day.
Bahrain's long-distance runner, Birhanu Balew, bagged a gold medal in men's 5,000m, while his compatriot Dawit Fikadu claimed the bronze medal in the same race.
Bahrain also claimed gold in women's 4x400m relay.
The national handball team will tomorrow play Qatar in the final of the handball tournament at 07:00 am Bahrain time, which will provide an opportunity for the national squad to win a gold medal.
Bahrain will also participate in the final of the marathon of the 19th Asian Games, set to be held on Thursday.
