Arnous, Benlamlih discuss boosting cooperation to address the earthquake impacts
Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister Hussein Arnous discussed Monday with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim for Syria, El-Mostafa Benlamlih means to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Syrian government institutions and the United Nations organizations involved in humanitarian and relief work in order to achieve the optimal response to the earthquake repercussions that hit Syria.
Both sides discussed a number of issues related to achieving the early recovery and the return of economic and social activity to the affected-earthquake governorates, and the aid that could be offered by the United Nations organizations working on the ground to the affected people.
Arnous pointed out the huge losses caused to the country as a result of the devastated earthquake, which requires the United Nations and the international community support to rehabilitate the affected areas.
Arnous stressed that the Syrian government provided all facilities to the United Nations organizations to perform their role in an optimal manner to support the government’s efforts in mitigating the effects of the earthquake, and securing relief needs and humanitarian needs of those affected in the current stage.
In turn, Benlamlih, stresses United Nations organizations’ redainess to provide all support to the sectors affected by the earthquake, such as health, education and agriculture to achieve the early recovery, voicing confidence that Syria will overcome this ordeal.
