Bahrain committed to fast-tracking achievement of SDGs

New York, July 18 (BNA): Noor bint Ali Al-Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, has affirmed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain is moving steadily towards promoting the values of peaceful coexistence, protecting individual rights and achieving suitability goals.
This came during a speech given by the Sustainable Development Minister at the United Nations World Sustainability Forum for 2023 themed "Accelerate recovery from COVID-19 and fully implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels".
The minister expressed her pride in Bahrain’s success in overcoming the repercussions of the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic without affecting the pace of achieving sustainable development by launching initiatives that played a vital role in Bahrain's global leadership in addressing the pandemic.
The launch of Bahrain’s Economic Recovery Plan, commitment to reaching net zero by 2060, merging the sustainability goals in the government programme 2023-2026 "from Recovery to Sustainable Development" and enhancing digital transformation, in addition to establishing the Ministry of Sustainable Development in 2022, has had the greatest impact on consolidating the sustainable plan for economic recovery, she added.
The minister highlighted Bahrain’s support for international cooperation and partnership in the field of accelerating the pace of achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the need to benefit from international forums as platforms for dialogue and consultation on activating global partnerships and developing innovative solutions that are of great importance to be available and accessible to all.
She also expressed her aspiration to present the second voluntary national review of Bahrain on the progress made in achieving sustainable development goals at the high-level political forum.
