Bahrain participates in HLPF panel discussion

New York, July 18 (BNA): Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and Dr. Zakareya Al Khaja, Deputy Chief Executive of Electronic Transformation at the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), participated in a panel discussion on "Accelerating the Recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels," as part of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023 held in New York.
The event was organized by Singapore's Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), with the participation of India, Rwanda, and Bahrain.
Al Romaihi stressed the importance of digital environments in modern urban societies and highlighted Bahrain's providing of digital infrastructure in the planning of modern cities.
She noted the ministry's efforts to implement the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to provide 40,000 housing units in five modern housing cities that are prepared with sustainable and modern urban components.
Dr. Zakareya Al Khaja affirmed that Bahrain is a leading example of using advanced technologies to serve citizens and noted the success of the Kingdom's digital transformation plan.
He also underscored Bahrain's support for technical institutions and companies that contribute to advancing the national digital economy.
