‘Renault determined to continue presence in Iran market’

TEHRAN,July 14(MNA) - French carmaker Renault is determined to continue presence in the Iranian market and is committed to continue its services, ISNA quoted secretary of the association of Iranian car part producers Sasan Qorbani as saying. He rejected some rumors about halting activity by Renault in Iran, saying that the French company has just called for removing some problems to continue presence in Iran’s car market, he said. “The international sanctions have caused a delay in paying outstanding debts to Renault. This issue has negatively affected the imports of car parts,” Qorbani said. On June 3, the U.S. Treasury Department announced a new round of sanctions against anyone involved in Iran’s auto industry and anyone caught using Iran’s currency, the rial, for “significant transactions.” In January, ISNA quoted Gilles Normand, Renault senior vice president and chairman for Asia-Pacific, as saying French giant carmaker Renault is committed to continue its services in Iran despite international sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic. Iran is one of the main markets for Renault products and the company will meet its obligations to manufacture new products and supply parts to its Iranian customers, Normand said.
