“Go Malaysia Deals” To Draw 10,000 Arrivals From S'pore Over 2 Months
By Massita Ahmad
SINGAPORE, Jan 29 (Bernama) – The “Go Malaysia Deals” campaign is set to draw about 10,000 tourist arrivals from Singapore to Malaysia over a two-month period.
The campaign, which kicked off today, sees Tourism Malaysia in partnership with Singapore-headquartered EasyBook.com and selected bus companies and hotels in Malaysia to offer a total of six packages catering specifically to the Singapore market.
Speaking to Bernama at the launch of the campaign here, director of Tourism Malaysia–Singapore office Edzuar Zar Ayob Azari said Singapore is an important market as it holds about 46 per cent of total tourist arrivals to Malaysia.
Edzuar Zar said for the first nine months of 2018, Malaysia received 7,830,117 tourist arrivals from Singapore with tourist receipts of RM3.7 billion.
“As the trend for online travel booking rises, it is felt that the time is right for us to embark on a strategic collaboration with an established online travel agency (OTA) in Singapore,” said Edzuar Zar.
Edzuar Zar said the key destinations offered in the ‘Go Malaysia Deals’ campaign are selected for their suitability to Singaporeans, who mostly opt to travel to popular destinations to indulge in activities such as shopping, sightseeing and food tasting.
The packages can be purchased only through EasyBook.com.
Bookings are open from Jan 28 to March 15, 2019 for travel to Malaysia between Jan 29 and March 31, 2019.
For the “Go Malaysia Deals” campaign, EasyBook.com is offering special value-for-money short getaway packages and a 15 per cent discount on all bus bookings from Singapore to Malaysia, valid with the ‘GOMY15’ promo code.
The hotels featured as part of these packages include Hotel Equatorial Melaka, Capri by Fraser Kuala Lumpur, Impiana Hotel Ipoh, Berjaya Penang Hotel, Grand Ion Delemen Genting Highlands and Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur.
According to EasyBook.com managing director William Lee, as the largest and leading one-stop online transport ticketing platform in Southeast Asia, EasyBook has been providing land and sea travel transport to thousands of destinations in the past 12 years.
“This also includes bus, train and ferry tickets to Malaysia. Since then, we have brought in millions of travellers from Singapore to Malaysia,” he said, adding that the online platform integrates 300 bus companies as well as 50 ferry operators in Malaysia.
Founded in 2006, EasyBook.com has sold more than five million tickets online so far.
It brought more than 700,000 tourists from Singapore to Malaysia last year, almost double from the 480,000 in 2017.
The Singapore-Malaysia route is the largest revenue earner for EasyBook with about 200 daily bus trips connecting the two countries.
