20m Ton Rise In National Petrochemical Production Capacity In 8 years

Tehran, Aug 27, IRNA – National petrochemical production capacity has risen by more than 20 million tons since 2005, when the 9th government took office. Since 2005, such petrochemical units have come on stream: Olefin-7 in Marun Petrochemical Facility, Methanol IV in Zagros Petrochemical Facility, Aromatic IV in Borzuyeh Petrochemical Facility, Ammonium IV and Urea IV in Pardis Petrochemical Facility, PTA/PET II in Tondguyan Petrochemical Facility, Light Polyethylene in Laleh Petrochemical Facility and Olefin 10 in Jam Petrochemical Facility. Moreover, Assalouyeh heavy polyethylene project in Mehr Petrochemical Facility, Assalouyeh Ethylene in Morvarid Petrochemical Facility, light polyethylene project in Amirkabir Petrochemical Facility, phosphoric acid in Arya Phosphoric Facility and color alkaloid and PVC projects in Arvand Petrochemical Facility became operational. Iran exported $14.2 billion worth of petrochemical products last year. Many customers of Iran's petrochemicals are willing to sign 15 to 25 year contracts due to high quality of the petrochemicals produced in Iran. Since 2005, when President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office, 38 petrochemical plants have been launched leading to more production of petrochemical products from 20 million tons to 54 million tons per year.
