7th Muslim World Biz 2016 To Generate US$213.97 Million In Business Transaction

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The seventh Muslim World BIZ 2016, to be held in October, is expected to generate business transactions of about US$213.97 million (RM900 million), said Chairman of Muslim World Biz Muhammad Raja Talib Raja Mohamad. He said many countries were enquiring about the event and to date, 12 per cent of the targeted 40 countries have confirmed their participation for this year's event," he told reporters after the soft launch of the leading trade exhibition and conference here Tuesday. Themed, 'Turning Visions into Realities', the five-day event would begin on Oct 18 at the Putra World Trade Centre and feature between 600 and 700 booths. Several other events will also be held concurrently, including the Organisation of the Islamic Conference Asia Trade Economic Forum, World Medical Tourism Exhibition and Conferece as well as a round table talk. The event is organised by OIC International Business Centre Sdn Bhd with the cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Islamic Centre for Development Trade and the Association of Muslim World Business Malaysia. Muhammad Raja Talib said the objective of the event was to spearhead the promotion of economic cooperation and increase intra-trade among the 1.6 billion global Muslim population. "We hope, through this year's Muslim World BIZ, the connectivity and collaborative partnerships in the Muslim world can be enhanced. "Since 2013, intra-trade between OIC countries was still low at 18 per cent although the OIC was a strong economic body now," he said. (US$1 = RM4.20) --BERNAMA
