Agriculture Ministry To Focus On Expanding Market For Honey Jackfruit

TEMERLOH (Pahang, Malaysia) April 17 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry will continue to focus on conducting more scientific research on the J33 variety of honey jackfruit as well as expanding its market overseas. Its minister Salahuddin Ayub said the fruit had wide market potential due to its taste and nutritious value. "Exports and demand for jackfruit from the country are very high, especially from European countries," he told reporters at the Lanchang Permanent Food Production Park (TKPM) walkabout programme here Wednesday. In 2018, a total of 266.5 tonnes of Honey Jackfruit with a value of RM799,500 was exported to European and Southeast Asian countries. TKPM was established in 2001 through the 3rd National Agriculture Policy (DPN3) to transform the agricultural sector by encouraging large scale agricultural projects. -- BERNAMA
