Aladdinstreet.My Targets To Expand In Over 30 Countries

By Ainor Maziyyah Rahim KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Aladdinstreet.my, a halal products e-commerce platform, is targeting to expand its reach in over 30 countries soon. Aladdin Group Founder Wesley Ong said at present, Aladdinstreet.my has reached 20 countries and the group aimed to penetrate another 10 countries in the next 18 months. "Among the countries we are targeting are Iran, Singapore and Kazakhstan and when we make our presence in 30 countries, we will reach out to almost four billion consumers. "The market potential for halal products stood at US$2.3 trillion last year (US$1=RM4.15) and it is estimated to grow to US$3 trillion this year. "Our target market is not Muslim countries alone as we are currently trading halal products with China and India," said Ong. There is a Muslim population of over 23 million in China today. "We are also focusing on marketing non-food halal products such as cosmetics and pharmaceutical products," he added. The export of Malaysia's halal products is expected to grow 19 per cent to US$12.04 billion (RM50 billion) this year from US$10.11 billion (RM42 billion) in 2015, leveraging on intensive promotion by industry stakeholders. -- BERNAMA
