Amway Malaysia Banks On New Products To Continue Healthy Growth

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 (Bernama) -- Amway (Malaysia) Holdings Bhd is expected to sustain its healthy growth in the direct-selling market, supported by an upcoming launch of 10 products this year. Its Malaysia/Brunei General Manager, Michael Duong said despite softer consumer sentiment and a weaker ringgit, the company is optimistic that the products would help boost its sales as there was demand for the product range. "To achieve our target, we will be prudent in our operational costs, as almost 90 per cent of the products are mainly imported, particularly from the United States. "One of the products that we will be introducing is an air car purifier which we believe will have a market demand as 93 per cent of Malaysians owns a car," he told a media briefing on Amway Malaysia's 2017 outlook. The product is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. Duong said Amway Malaysia would capitalise on its sales and marketing strategy activities by continuously working with Amway Business Owners (ABOs) to attract more ABO applicants. "In 2015, we had 10,000 to 12,000 new applicants per month on average, which is a 19 per cent growth from the previous year, and this also coincides with our sales growth which recorded an increase of 19 per cent for the same period. "We aim to remain focus on person-to-person in our business with the strength of our ABOs, while continuing to utilise technology such as the use of social media to grow our business," he said. Duong was reluctant to elaborate on the financial performance for 2016 as the company is in the midst of closing its account for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016. However, he said the company would continue to be resilient, as it could offer opportunities for Malaysians to take up the direct-selling business as a part-time job amid the challenging environment. "We have been in Malaysia for 40 years and being one of the top direct-selling companies in the country, we provide guarantee, training, facilities and the right tools for ABOs to grow and sustain their business for the long-terms," he added. Duong said Amway Malaysia has 240,000 ABOs and currently holds 12 per cent market share in the RM15 billion (US$3.34 billion) direct-selling market industry. (US$1 = RM4.47) -- BERNAMA
