AOT:Runway repair at Suvarnabhumi Airport is on schedule
BANGKOK, June 20 (TNA) - Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) says that the ongoing fixing of an eastern runway of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport has been on progress as scheduled.
AOT President Aniruth Thanomkulabutra told journalists Wednesday that the runway repairing project at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport involves a 1.6 kilometre-section of the 4 kilometre-long eastern runway stretch and is expected to be complete on August 9 as planned, confirming that progress of the repair has been on schedule so far.
Anirut acknowledged that there have been 104 delayed flights daily over the first seven days of the runway fixing, or 12.6 per cent of a total of 825 flights operating daily on average at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport, with each of the flights recorded a delay of some 20-30 minutes.
According to the AOT chief, around-the-clock coordinating centres have been, therefore, opened inside the airport's terminals to assist international passengers during the runway fixing period. (TNA)
