ASEAN India Business Summit To Enhance Closer Business Linkages
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) – The third ASEAN India Business Summit, which consists of three events -- the ASEAN India Business Conference, the ASEAN India Business Excellence Awards and Gala Dinner -- will be held on Tuesday next week in Kuala Lumpur.
The event, themed “Towards building strategic partnership between ASEAN and India in the era of fourth industrial revolution and digital economy”, is organised by the ASEAN India Business Council (AIBC) Malaysian Chapter.
“The ASEAN India Business Conference's main objective is to enhance closer business linkages between two of the fastest growing regions, as ASEAN and India are forecast to grow at 5.2 per cent and 7.3 per cent in 2018, respectively, and are also expected to sustain the growth momentum in 2019,” the council said in a statement on Friday.
International Trade and Industry Minister Darell Leiking will deliver a keynote address.
“This year's conference will also include a ministerial session with special emphasis on strengthening economic ties between ASEAN and the North Eastern States of India,” AIBC said.
Ministers from Malaysia and ASEAN as well as Chief Ministers from India's north eastern states will be among the panel members in the ministerial session.
To be held at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry's MITI Hall, the conference is expected to be attended by 350 to 400 corporate leaders, academics, government officials and youth from Malaysia, other ASEAN countries, India and foreign business associations and representatives of high commissions and embassies in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the Business Excellence Awards will be given to various categories of winners selected from 10 ASEAN countries and India.
The ASEAN India Gala Dinner and the presentation of the second ASEAN-India Business Excellence Awards will be held at the St Regis Hotel.
AIBC comprises of eminent business leaders from the 10 ASEAN nations and India and was formally constituted in 2005 by the governments of ASEAN and India.
The council is co-chaired by Malaysia on the ASEAN side and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on the Indian side.
