ASEAN members to use Thailand as standard for MICE
BANGKOK, Jan 30 (TNA) -- Nine other fellow members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have agreed to use Thailand as the standard for the development of the organising meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) activities, said Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, director of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
So far some 100 MICE organisers have received approval to organise MICE activities in the kingdom in 2016, said Mr Nopparat.
These organisers will later receive certificates, he said.
Plans would be made later to further develop venues for holding MICE activities in five cities including Pattaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Khon Kaen, said Mr Nopparat.
It is expected that about 1,060,000 people would attend MICE in Thailand this year, generating 92 billion baht in revenue for the country.
Apart from Thailand, nine other ASEAN members are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. (TNA)
