Auto-component Hub Coming Up in Perak

IPOH (Perak), Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Mobile Starhill (M) Sdn Bhd has signed agreements with several major automotive component players in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, in China to collaborate in the development of a mega integrated auto-component hub in Tanjung Malim, near here. Chief Minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu was optimistic the agreements would serve as a platform to attract more investments into the mega hub from automotive components players in Ningbo. The signing of the agreements was witnessed by Ahmad Faizal, who is currently in China as a member of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s delegation which is currently visiting China. “I fully support this effort which is expected to create 10,000 new jobs in Perak, especially in Tanjung Malim. “This is will further stimulate the economic growth of both the country and state,” he said in a statement issued in conjunction with the signing of the agreements. In a related development, Ahmad Faizal said the state government would soon introduce tax-exemption initiatives for strategic investments as part of its efforts to attract investments into the state. He said the government also planned to introduce technical and engineering grants for a period of five to ten years to help create more skilled workers. -- BERNAMA
