BAC’s CEO signs agreements with leading telecom providers for new terminal

Manama, Nov. 16 (BNA): The Kingdom’s three leading telecom operators will provide their services at Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) new Passenger Terminal Building, ensuring broader and faster mobile coverage for travellers and tenants, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) announced.
BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah signed the respective 5-year agreements with Batelco Acting/Consumer Unit General Manager, Maha Abdulrahman, Zain Bahrain General Manager, Mohammed Zainalabedin, and VIVA Bahrain Chief Executive Officer, Ulaiyan Al Wetaid.
The signing ceremonies, which took place on the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) 2018, are in line with the Airport Modernisation Programme’s goal to enhance the overall passenger experience at BIA. Under the agreement, Batelco, Zain, and VIVA will also operate retail outlets at the new terminal, offering a range of products and other services.
Mr Al Binfalah said: “Upon landing, the first thing many passengers do is turn on their mobiles phones. Our aim is to ensure they enjoy swift and seamless coverage from the moment they arrive in the Kingdom, which is why we have partnered with the biggest players in Bahrain’s telecom sector. The strong coverage will also enable airport tenants to conduct business more effectively and help departing passengers to stay connected to their work and personal lives while waiting for their flight.”
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the supervision of HM the King’s Personal Representative and BIAS Supreme Organising Committee Chairman, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, BIAS 2018 took place from 14 to 16 November at Sakhir Air Base. It was organised by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the Royal Bahraini Air Force, in association with Farnborough International.
