BAC to host Airport Conference at BIAS 2018

Manama, Nov. 10 (BNA): Senior decision-makers from leading regional airlines and airports will come together to discuss the impact of digital technology on airports, ongoing efforts to develop the Gulf as a tourism destination, and numerous other issues shaping the region’s aviation sector at this year’s Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) Airport Conference. Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) is hosting the event under the patronage of the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed. Titled ‘Into the Future: Challenges and Opportunities for Gulf Region Airports and Airlines’, the conference will be held on 15 November at the Farnborough International News Network Theatre in the BIAS Exhibition Hall. The panellists are BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yousif Al-Binfalah, Oman Airports Management Company Chief Executive Officer, Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni, President of Boeing Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, Bernard Dunn and Abu Dhabi Airports Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Thompson. Professor Rigas Doganis, a leading aviation consultant and strategic advisor to a number of airlines, airports, banks, and governments around the world, will moderate the event. The region has one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world, which is why keeping abreast of its latest developments is essential. The Airport Conference will provide valuable insight into ongoing airport expansion projects, new technologies aimed at streamlining efficiency, the threat long-haul low-cost airlines pose to Gulf carriers, and the potential for Middle East hubs to become gateways to Africa. BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al-Binfalah said: “Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) own transformation through the Airport Modernisation Programme makes the Kingdom a fitting venue to host the conference. The new Passenger Terminal Building will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to enhance efficiency, improve security, and meet passengers’ growing expectations for a more seamless airport experience. In addition, BAC and its partners are working to develop new routes out of BIA, which will help enhance tourism, trade, bilateral relations, and increase the aviation sector’s contribution to the national economy in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030.”
