Bahrain hosts International Project Management Convention

Manama, Nov. 2 (BNA): Bahrain International Project Management Convention was inaugurated under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB). CBB's Governor Rasheed Al Maraj, and US Ambassador to Bahrain William V. Roebuck along with executives and senior management of various organisations from all sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain were present. The convention was organised by Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) with the strategic partnership of Tamkeen and Communication partnership of Batelco and Social Responsibility partnership of the Capital Governorate. The month-long convention is held for the first time in Bahrain to emphasise the importance of Project Management and target skills gap areas of managing projects effectively to enhance project deliverables in several economic sectors and organisational structures. Project Management Expert Abdul Majeed Al Qassab highlighted the importance of project management and the significance of this event and its contribution to market dynamics. The convention included a panel discussion on the importance of Project Management on various aspects of business and its impact on generating improved results. The panellists are various high profiles from different sectors. The panel discussion was chaired by Dheya Tawfiqi, President of Federation of Arab Engineers and CEO of his consultancy company DETB, along with Abdul Nabi Al Sabah, the Chief Project Management Office at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and an Advisor to the Minister of Works. Also, Abdulelah AlQassimi, Former Chief Executive of Tamkeen, and Hassan Jarrar, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Islamic Bank. BIBF’s Deputy Director Dr Ahmed Abdulhameed Al Shaikh stressed on the need of such innovative initiatives to further empower the strategic goal of organisations and overall contribute to the kingdom’s economy. He further added, "The strategic goal of BIBF is to enhance the performance of human capital locally and regionally, and this convention serves as the platform to increase awareness of project management. Project management discipline and skills that could apply to all sectors and industries in the economy serve as the basic tool to deliver better projects results and deliverables. At the BIBF, we are certain that ongoing professional development plays a tremendous role in the success of projects." BIBF’s Head of Operations, IT and Project Management Ahmed Naeemi, stated "When we talk about the field of Project Management, Bahrain International Project Management Convention 2016 is the most comprehensive training solution for anyone interested in managing any project in any sector whether they are professionals or beginners. The convention will compromise of 30 workshops relevant to all industries and presented by 4 leading professional trainers in the Project Management field, the convention is about connecting professions, collaborating with fellow Project Management peers and contributing back to the community". The convention will comprise of 30 specialised workshops conducted by professional Project Management International Experts that covers all business sectors. A first of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a competition in the project management field will be launched as part of the convention. The competition will be a practical implementation of project management principles that will help learners to apply and better understand the principles of project management, from the start of a given project to the delivery of a product or result.
