Bahraini-Maltese economic cooperation discussed

Manama, Apr. 5 (BNA): Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Sameer Nass, has recently received in his office the Riyadh-resident Maltese Ambassador to Bahrain, Dr Clive Aquilina Spagnol. Nass hailed the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Malta. He stressed the importance of capitalising on the economic resemblance of both countries to step up business and economic cooperation. He also voiced the keenness of the Bahrain Chamber in supporting all endeavours that aim at invigorating trade and stimulating partnerships. Dr Clive Aquilina Spagnol reiterated pride in the Bahraini-Maltese friendly relations, calling on bolstering business relations and reaping the benefits of the memoranda and cooperation agreements signed between both sides, key among which the Avoidance of Double Taxation Convention. He revealed that tourism and financial services are the key engines of the Maltese economy, as each comprises 35% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He also touched upon the incentives to foreign investors and the growing sectors in his country including Financial Technology (Fintech), blockchain, artificial intelligence applications, and fish farming technology, calling Bahraini investors and business owners to probe and seize business and investment opportunities in Malta. Present at the meeting were also: Treasurer Mr. Aref Hejris; board member Mr. Ahmed Al Saloom; Chief Executive Officer Mr. Shaker Al Shater; and his deputy Dr. Abdulla Al Sada.
