Bahrain's Ministry of Industry to ensure market stability while implementing VAT

Manama, Dec. 24 (BNA): The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism affirmed its keenness to monitor commercial markets in Bahrain and various outlets to ensure markets’ stability especially in light of implementing VAT which becomes effective on January 1. Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic Trade Hameed Rahma said that the ministry in coordination with the National Tax Authority of the Gulf has initiated a series of administrative and legal procedures to ensure markets free of any unfair practices, and to ensure its stability. The ministry inspection centre will also play its key role to ensure that there are no violations or illegal commercial practices. The undersecretary called the commercial sector to comply with the VAT law by registering on the website of the National bureau of Taxation (www.nbt.gov.bh) and to comply with the relevant laws and regulations. He called all citizens and consumers to report any violation by contacting the National Call Center on 80008001.
