Bank ABC sponsors Bahrain Women Printmakers’ first art exhibition

Manama, Apr. 17 (BNA): The first group exhibition of the art works of Bahrain Women Printmakers will launch on April 23 at Albareh Art Gallery.
The exhibition will be held under the theme “Lines of Light”, organised by Jehan Saleh Printmaking Studio and sponsored by Bank ABC.
The sponsorship of this exhibition comes as part of the Bank’s initiatives to support diversity and the empowerment of women, Dr. Khaled Kawan, Group CEO of Bank ABC will inaugurate the exhibition.
Lines of Light features the works of the seven members of Bahrain Women Printmakers: Dawiya AlAlaweiyat, Mona Al Moataz, Zakeya Zada, Mayssa Al Sowaidi, Marwa Rashid Al Khalifa and Lina Mohammed Kamal, as well as works by founder and exhibition organiser, Jehan Saleh.
Bahrain Women Printmakers is a unique initiative that came about organically in the studio of Bahrain-based Egyptian artist and art educator, Jehan Saleh.
As artists trained with Jehan to learn the techniques of linocut, calligraphy, woodcut and monoprint, a number of them came together naturally, learning and producing art together, critiquing each other’s work and developing a passion for the medium.
She also sensed a palpable camaraderie among them. It is this group that inspired her to create Bahrain Women Printmakers, a platform where women can come together to learn, and to produce art that is new, experimental and fearless.
She has recently launched Jehan Saleh Printmaking Studio where she offers printmaking workshops for adults and children.
