BCCI Chairman, Egyptian Trade minister discuss ways to bolster Bahraini-Egyptian economic cooperation

Cairo, May 25 (BNA): Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Sameer bin Abdulla Nass, met the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevin Gamea, and discussed with her ways to consolidate the mechanisms of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, deepen cooperation between the two countries and intensify economic events aimed at implementing more investment projects and increasing the volume of bilateral trade. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the BCCI Chairman’s visit to Egypt to participate in the launch of the second edition of the Arab Rally for Entrepreneurship, held here at the Arab League’s headquarters. The two sides stressed the need to implement all agreements signed between the two countries, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. They also highlighted the importance of launching joint events that serve the business sector in the two brotherly countries. Nass affirmed BCCI’s keenness to develop relations between Bahrain and Egypt, double the volume of bilateral trade exchange and enhance joint investments, as part of its strategy to strengthen economic relations with brotherly and friendly countries, in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. He also highlighted BCCI’s ongoing efforts to put forward strategic plans to benefit from the agreements signed between the two countries in the fields of food security, farming and agricultural exports. He indicated that BCCI seeks to provide all facilities to Egyptian entrepreneurs and companies in Bahrain, calling on the Egyptian business community to intensify their participation in economic events in Bahrain to collect first-hand information about the kingdom’s promising investment opportunities. He also pointed out that BCCI is keen to take advantage of the food and agricultural sectors in Egypt. BCCI Chief also revealed that the two sides had agreed to make Bahrain a gateway to Egyptian products exported to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, noting that Egypt is well-placed to be one of the main sources of GCC food and agricultural needs. Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevin Gamea, underlined her country’s keenness to bolster economic cooperation with the Kingdom, stressing the need to translate the distinguished relations between HM the King and President El-Sisi, into tangible cooperation projects that serve the interests of the two brotherly countries. She revealed the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry’s keenness to devote a direct trading hub between Egypt and Bahrain to provide the Bahraini market, in particular, and GCC markets, in general, with Egyptian agricultural and food products that are compatible with GCC standards in order to face the challenges created by COVID-19 pandemic. She also indicated that her country is always keen to strengthen its cooperation relations with all brotherly Arab countries with the aim of achieving the desired regional economic integration to serve the interests of the Arab peoples.
