Manama, Mar. 4 (BNA): Bahrain Bourse (BHB) has announced Ahli United Bank (AUB) as a silver sponsor for the "Smart Investor" Programme in its second edition for the academic year 2019/2020.
The national awareness programme is organised in collaboration with INJAZ Bahrain, and aims at promoting financial and investment literacy among elementary school students in Bahrain.
On this occasion, Chief Operations Officer Narjes Jamal said: "We are honoured to have Ahli United Bank on board as one of the official sponsors of the Smart Investor Programme in its second edition. We are delighted to receive AUB’s support for our various outreach initiatives, including for this programme which aims at fostering and boosting financial literacy amongst the youth in the Kingdom of Bahrain."
For his part, David O’Loan, Deputy Group CEO, Treasury & Investments, at AUB, said, "We are pleased to sponsor initiatives such as these by Bahrain Bourse which seek to provide our young people with the tools they need to reach their potential. At AUB, we know first-hand the capacity of such programmes to inspire young bright minds to perhaps one day lead a career in investment or finance and become full-fledged, brilliant practitioners of the field".
The programme was launched in 2018 in collaboration with INJAZ Bahrain targeting grade school students. The programme aims at equipping young students with basic concepts related to money management, savings and smart financial planning through interactive edutainment activities in order to assist them in making sound financial decisions.
The event comprises seven-themed sessions designed to equip students with the following concepts: Thinking, Specifying, Planning, Execution, Saving, Progression, and Evaluation.
The next edition is expected to kick-off during the academic year 2019/2020 with planned activities targeting the public scheduled for the summer period.
During the 2018/2019 academic year, the Smart Investor programme was rolled out to 61 schools, targeting over 5,200 students at Grade 4 elementary level.
