Business of recycling electronic waste

BANGKOK, Feb 4 (TNA) -- The recycling electronic waste business in Thailand is showing signs of continuing growth and the value of business could fetch as high as 5 billion baht in 2017, up 4.8 per cent from last year, said a report issued by Kasikorn Research Centre (KRC). The report, issued with the aim of asking those involved in the business to manage electronic waste properly and to also use high technology in separating valuable metals, said the market business in Thailand was around 4.77 billion baht last year. It is forecast that the business would sustain growth between 3.1-4.8 per cent in 2017 from 2016, the report said. It is estimated that one tonne of electronic waste is worth approximately 67,100 baht. KRC said the business in Thailand could still growing in future if electronic waste is properly managed and recycled while innovative technology is used to separate valuable metals from the waste. (TNA) The report was issued at the time when concerned Japanese authorities have requested donations of electronic waste from the public so that it could be recycled and made into Olympic medals. Japan is going to host Olympic Games between July 24 – August 9, 2020. (TNA)
