Cassava export sees bright future from Chinese delegations’ visit to Thailand

BANGKOK, August 2 (TNA) - The Commerce Ministry sees bright future for cassava export to China after the visit of Chinese administrators from Lianyungang city to Thailand. Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom told reporters Thursday Thailand had problems exporting cassava to China early this year but the ministry officials had an opportunity to discuss the issue with senior administrators of Lianyungang city, during their four-day visit to Thailand from July 30 to Aug 2. He said both sides discussed two-way trade, the development of cassava industry in the two countries, and ways to expand Thai cassava export to China. Boonsong said the talks are expected to help boost Thai cassava export to China by over 15 percent. China is a major market for Thai cassava export. The country imports 4 million tons of Thai cassavas worth over 40 billion baht annually. (TNA)
