CIBJO Congress 2017 to be held in Bangkok
BANGKOK, Nov 4 (TNA) -- Bangkok will start holding a three-day CIBJO Congress 2017 meeting from Sunday, strengthening Thailand’s position as the world’s hub for jewelry and ornamental goods as aimed by the government within 2021.
More than 250 leading players in the field will participate in the CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, meeting to be organised at a Bangkok hotel.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is scheduled to preside over the official opening of the meeting on Monday.
Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said the CIBJO Congress 2017 will give an opportunity to the Thai government and jewellery operators to meet global leading traders including De Beers, Gemfields, Vicenzaoro to engage in future business.
The meeting is expected to assist Thailand to export more these goods in future, said Ms Apiradi.
A total of 42 countries are members of CIBJO. It has been organising its annual congress since 2004 and Thailand was the host of the congress. (TNA)
