City bus reform with two new routes

BANGKOK, Jan 15 (TNA) - The Land Transport Department launched two new bus routes, operated by a private company under the supervision of the department. The route expansion is part of the city bus route reform. Sanith Phromwong, the department’s director-general said the buses for the new routes are fitted with GPS and E-Ticket machines and wheelchair ramps. The first route of 31-seater NGV powered bus runs from Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute in Bangplee district of Samutprakarn, passing Srinakarin Road through Rama 9 Road and taking the express way to the Victory Monument to end at Ramathibodi Hospital. The fare starts at 13 to 25 baht for the 31-km route. Free ride is offered for five days from Jan 16 to 20 during the soft launch. The second route is the 21-seater diesel-powered microbus, which runs from Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin (Salaya) through Boromarajonani Road, the New Southern bus terminal, going through Taling Chan – Khamphaeng Phet expressway to end at BTS skytrain’s Mo Chit station. The fare is 40 baht and will start operation from February onwards. (TNA)
