Commerce minister will visit Hong Kong to promote Thai rice

BANGKOK, April 1 (TNA) -- Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn will lead Thai government authorities and business people to Hong Kong on April 5-7 to promote Thai rice. Her delegation will meet Gregory So Kam-leung, Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, to discuss rice trade and ASEAN-Hong Kong free trade. It will also hold a meeting for Thai rice exporters and Hong Kong rice importers to discuss rice trade situations and the improvement of rice to meet market demands. Ms Apiradi will also ask Hong Kong to support the investment of Thai small and medium-sized enterprises and promote the Discover Thai Taste 2016 fair at Mira Hotel from April 5 to 30. Thai rice including Riceberry rice will be a highlight in the event. During the visit, Thai and Hong Kong rice traders will sign a memorandum of understanding and the commerce minister will present Best Import Performance of Thai Rice Awards to eight Hong Kong companies that have increased their import of Thai rice.
