Commerce Ministry will proceed with its successful business matching project with neighboring countries
BANGOK, Jan 15 (TNA) -- The Commerce Ministry is proceeding with its Young Entrepreneur Network Development (YEN-D) Program this year as its initial implementation last year resulted in partnerships worth 500 million baht between Thai businesspeople and counterparts from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
Adul Chotinisakorn, deputy director-general of the Department of Foreign Trade, said that under the YEN-D Program the department had gathered four classes of businesspeople and gave them training and activities so that they could develop their networks and business partnerships.
Each class comprised 30 Thai businesspeople and 30 counterparts from a neighboring country and they had sealed joint business projects worth 500 million baht, he said.
“The department invited businesspeople of the new generation who are not older than 45 years old and are business heirs in Thailand and neighboring countries. They spent time together and four classes of the activities happened late last year,” Mr Adul said. “The department will increase the business value, so it is bringing YEN-D participants to meet businesspeople in neighboring countries.”
The program already saw Thai and Vietnamese businesspeople initiating joint projects of facial and skin care products, snacks, construction materials and shoes. Partnerships between Thai and Cambodian trainees concerned original equipment manufacturing and air fresheners. Those between Thai and Lao businesspeople involved beauty, innovation, design, construction, food and curry paste business plans. Those between Thai and Myanmar trainees dealt with air-conditioners and energy-saving boilers.
Training under the YEN-D Program in the second year of implementation would start next month. Each class would consist of 40 Thai participants and 40 counterparts from a neighboring country and young government officials of Thailand and the other countries would join the activities, Mr Adul said.
