Comprehensive eDFT system launched by Thai authority

BANGKOK, August 24 (TNA) - The Department of Foreign Trade (DFT), under the Thai Ministry of Commerce, has officially launched its comprehensive eDFT system to be in line with the government's Thailand 4.0 Policy towards the ultimate goal of security, prosperity and sustainability of the nation in the long run. The department's Director-General Adul Chotinisakorn officially launched the eDFT system while presiding over the opening of his department's seminar, held at the Ministry of Commerce on the outskirts of Bangkok on Friday. Adul announced that as of August 24, 2018, his department is well-prepared to fully provide official services on foreign trade through the advanced digital system by the end of this year to comply with the Ministry of Commerce's mission on enhancing the national competitiveness in trade through the adoption and the promotion of the utilization of innovations and advanced technologies among business operators in the country at all levels and on becoming a "smart ministry" by 2021. According to the senior official, his department's comprehensive eDFT system includes the e-Register system for business operators in Thailand, the e-Rules of Origin Verification system (ROVERS), the e-CO system for issuing the certification of the rules of origin verification, the e-Self-Certification of the rules of origin verification, instead of the traditional submission of the Form D and the Form A paper documents, and the e-Database of the Rules of Origin. The senior official stated that the eDFT system also includes the e-License system for exporting and importing of goods, the e-Report system for exporting and importing reports by business operators, the e-OCS for issuing goods standard certification, the e-TCWMD for facilitating business operators to meet legal requirements, the e-National Single Window (eNSW) system and the Asean Single Window (eASW) system, the latter two of which connect Thailand's Customs processes with those of other member countries of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) as stated in the AEC Blueprint. "The Department of Foreign Trade has steadily developed its roles to keep pace with the updated global situation and to be in line with the government's Thailand 4.0 Policy, from firstly being the Controller, to being the Regulator, the Facilitator and now the Mentor for business operators in the country", the senior official said.
