Customs Department eliminates import barriers

BANGKOK, March 3 (TNA) -- The Customs Department has eliminated several problems involving goods imported into Thailand in an attempt to facilitate importers, on hopes that Thailand’s ranking would improve by the World Bank. Customs Department Director-General Kulit Sombatsiri said his department has revised regulations, aimed at facilitating entrepreneurs in doing business in the kingdom. Since last November, importers are allowed to dispatch the list of goods items, importing into Thailand in advance, for the department officials to check even before the arrival of merchandise. So far, officials have screened about 200,000 items, thus saving time for both the officials and importers. Also, importers do not need to re-submit documents if they import raw materials and later ship out finished products. (TNA)
