Deputy PM promotes EEC in Japan

NAGOYA, Aichi, July 20 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak conducted a roadshow to invite Japanese investors to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Mr Somkid met about 800 Japanese investors in a seminar on “Thailand Taking off to New Heights” that the Board of Investment organized in Nagoya. There, he said the Thai economy was growing well at a pace of 4-5% in 2018 thanks to its potential, resources, order and reform plans. He also said that investment in the EEC had reached as much as 600 billion baht and the Japan External Trade Organization reported that its latest index of Japanese investors’ confidence in Thailand made an all-time high at 40 points. Mr Somkid said he planned to invite small and medium-sized enterprises and startups with automotive, electronic and aerospace expertise in Aichi and Mie prefectures to the EEC. He said that about 300 companies from Aichi invested in Thailand and their investment accounted for about one-third of Japanese investment in the country. (TNA)
