Don Mueang Airport expands visa on arrivals, passport check-up service areas

BANGKOK, August 4 (TNA) - Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport has expanded its service areas for visa on arrivals-inbound foreign tourists and for passport examinations to serve outbound international travelers. Don Mueang Airport General Manager Phet Chan-charoen told journalists of the update on Thursday, noting that the service area for visa on arrivals-inbound foreign tourists has already been moved to a wider 200-square metre zone on the 2nd floor of Terminal 1 Building and has received a positive feedback from inbound foreign tourists. Phet said Don Mueang Airport now serves 5,000-6,000 visa on arrivals-inbound foreign tourists daily, especially those from China, who were apparently satisfied with the new service area, as the service time for each tourist in the new zone is only a few minutes and considerably helps ease congestion. Besides, more facilities are provided in the new zone, including a swift photo-taking service, auto queue-up slip machines, over 300 sitting units, writing tables with examples for filling up forms in both the English and the Chinese languages and even foreign exchanges banking counters. According to the Don Mueang Airport top executive, the airport's passport check-up zone for outbound international travelers has also been expanded for another 100 square metres on the outbound section of Terminal 1 Building, where there are more counters and immigration officers to serve more outbound passengers, additionally 200 people an hour on average. The Don Mueang Airport top executive announced that the expanding outbound zone, which will be officially opened for public service next week, will also serve outbound Thai passengers and those from other fellow member countries in the ASEAN Community (AC) through auto-channel passport examination counters.
