DPM:Thailand's economic competitiveness score is up
BANGKOK, September 29 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak says that Thailand's economic competitiveness score, based on a global competitiveness report 2016-2017, has been up by 14 points.
Somkid, who oversees economic affairs, spoke of the positive national economic prospect while chairing a meeting with executives of the Ministry of Finance in Bangkok on September 28.
Somkid mentioned that the increased economic competitiveness score is part of Thailand's overall competitiveness score ranked among 138 economies worldwide by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in its latest Gobal Competitiveness Report 2016-2017.
Somkid assessed Thailand's infrastructure competitiveness score should also be up in WEF's next ranking after the country starts spending on its new mega-infrastructure development projects in 2017.
The deputy prime minister noted although Thailand's overall competitiveness in the WEF's Gobal Competitiveness Report 2016-2017 drops to the 34th rank, from the 32nd place in the previous ranking, the country's overall competitiveness score remains intact at 4.6 out of the total 7 score.
The deputy premier acknowledged, however, that Thailand needs to boost national competitiveness in education, ranked downward by the latest WEF report, despite its time-consuming for a certain period. (TNA)
