E-SAN Expo 2017 inaugurated
BANGKOK, June 27 – The Commerce Ministry organized the E-SAN Expo 2017 to stimulate the economy at the grass roots level.
Deputy Commerce Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong said the exposition presented outstanding products from communities in five upper northeastern provinces namely Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Loei and Bung Kan.
The products included farm products, garments, precious stones, ornaments, decorations, herbal products and products with geographical indication (GI). Buyers from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam were invited to meet the producers for export opportunities, he said.
Provinces in the upper Northeast were models for grass roots economic development and there was much room for growth, especially in tourism, Mr Sontirat said.
He cited CNN praised E-san or the Northeast as one of 17 important tourist destinations of the world. He hoped the exposition would also encourage people in the region to develop themselves to embrace economic growth.
E-SAN Expo 2017 would continue at the Impact convention and exhibition complex in Nonthaburi province until July 2. The fair should generate product sales worth 50-60 million baht and it would be organized at the Central Plaza center in Udon Thani province on Aug 8-14, Mr Sontirat said. (TNA)
