EGAT wins ASEAN Coal Awards 2017

LAMPANG, THAILAND, November 23 (TNA) - The state-run Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has won the ASEAN Coal Awards 2017 for Best Practice for Surface Coal Mining Category, held in Manila. While inaugurating the CM&USD 2017 at an EGAT training center in Mae Moh District of Lampang Province on Thursday, EGAT Deputy Governor for Fuel Thaworn Ngam-ganokwan announced that the Mae Moh Mine of EGAT won the prestigious prize earlier this year. "The Mae Moh coal mine of EGAT received the ASEAN Coal Awards 2017 for its efficient utilization of coal fuel and good environmental management through the participation of local communities", Thaworn said. According to the EGAT deputy governor, the participation from people of local communities has resulted in proper knowledge, as well as sound understanding and acceptance of projects launched by the Mae Moh Mine for the sake of sustainable energy development in the Thai North in all dimensions.
