Egypt For Promoting Economic Ties With Iran : Official

Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA – An Egyptian official said on Monday that his country would seek to strengthen economic relations with Iran in its future talks with the country. Talking to IRNA, a member of Egypt’s Foreign Relations Council Yosri Abusahdi described Tehran-Cairo ties as excellent. The two countries favor development of bilateral ties in all fields, he noted. Regretting that the NAM member states’ economic ties are at a low level, Abushadi said that they have only 20 percent share of the global economy which should be bolstered in future. NAM was founded in 1961 by then Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito, Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah, and Indonesian president Sukarno, all legends of the national liberation movement, with solid anti-imperial credentials, who advocated a middle course for the developing world between the western and eastern blocs in the Cold War./end
