Embrace Digital Revolution Faster, Says Banker
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Companies which have taken baby steps towards embracing the digital revolution must start to run a bit faster, said Hong Leong lslamic Bank Bhd Chief Executive Officer, Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz.
She said from 2015 onwards, waves of digital disruption might continue not only in automotive, but also in retail, healthcare, automotive, finance and education.
"The whole 'uber' things just came about two years ago, now it is the norm. Digital disruption moves very, very quickly," she said at The Asian Institute of Finance (AIF) International Symposium 2016 here Wednesday.
Raja Teh Maimunah was a speaker on the topic, "Digital Banking: Rethink, Redefine, Reinvent Talent", during the one-day symposium that examines the factors and trends driving future changes in the workplace and what it means for managing talent and human resource (HR) more generally.
She said in the digital era, banking was no longer a place where people go but it was all about what people do (in banking).
Companies needed to reinvent talents and must be ready to make changes or risk being perished, she said.
"When we talk about rethinking hiring, I urge you to look at mindset rather than skillset, that is, look at attitude or disposition or an inclination or perspective instead of curriculum vitae qualifications.
"Align the workforce and HR strategy with the business, that is, coordinate the workforce approach with the overall digital business strategy," she said.
