Entrepreneurs Urged To Be At The Frontier Of Technological Advancements
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- Entrepreneurs have been urged to be at the frontier of technological advancements and not behind the curve.
Malaysian Treasury Secretary-General Irwan Serigar Abdullah said, they must also aspire to become technology leaders and creators, instead of followers or adaptors.
"If we want to stay competitive and relevant, we need to change our mindset," he said in his welcoming speech at the Global Entrepreneurship Community 2016 (GEComunity 2016) and Malaysia Commercialisation Year 2016 here Thursday.
Mohd Irwan noted that Malaysia would continue to implement an open economy and outward looking policy to enhance the creation and innovation of new technology.
He said businesses are changing from ownership to assets, as seen in Grab and other mobile applications.
"The rich people are not those who owns the assets, but the mobile apps or other services.
"Hence, we need to embrace change and be more open in this moving world," added.
He said at present, employees worked for more than one employer.
The GEComunity 2016 brings together ecosystem influencers, startup communities and industry leaders from around the world to collaborate and find new innovative approaches to solve real problems and chart the way forward for entrepreneurs.
The two-day inaugural event from Thursday, aims to connect a community of thousands of experts and like-minded entrepreneurs tackling similar problems.
