Environment Supreme Council, NBB Group launch ESG Academy

Manama, Oct. 23 (BNA): The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) group and the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) launched the Internal Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) Academy for employees. The academy seeks to spread awareness of sustainability and practices among the group’s stakeholders, in line with NBB’s sustainable objectives. The signing ceremony was attended by Climate Affairs Special Envoy (SCE) and Environment and Oil Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina and NBB Board of Directors Chairman Farouk Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed. The climate affairs envoy stressed the council’s support and contributions to the launch of the academy to enhance the level of public awareness of environmental affairs and Bahrain’s objectives towards building knowledge and achieving comprehensive cooperation between the various sectors within the Kingdom. This comes within achieving the strategy and goals set by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister at the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The minister said that the academy would train the employees of the group and members of the sustainability committee of NBB on areas of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) practices. He explained that this partnership comes in the implementation of His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative and President of SCE to build communication with government, private and civil agencies and support the new generation of technology that serves the environment in the Kingdom.
