EWA issues professional plumbers' certification

Manama, Aug. 1 (BNA): Some 78 plumbers, licenced to practice the profession and recognised by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), were honoured yesterday. The ceremony was attended by EWA Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mohammed Abdul Rahim Sadiki. The honourees have successfully passed theoretical and practical training courses required to obtain the licence in accordance with the modern water supply and distribution systems. The EWA recently released organized introductory workshops for engineering offices to enable them to apply for such licencing for providing electricity and water projects new residential installations. The new licencees are trained at protecting subscribers from risks arising from faulty wiring; reducing wastage of water in subscriber networks resulting from leaks; protecting the public water system from contamination caused by reverse flow and determining the amount of water flow so that it does not conflict with the needs of subscribers.
