Friendship associations asked to give impetus to Tehran-Budapest ties

Tehran, Nov 26, IRNA – Iran's Ambassador to Budapest Gholamali Rajabi Yazdi said on Saturday undoubtedly, friendship associations enjoy high capacity to contribute to expansion of Tehran-Budapest ties. While outlining goals of general diplomacy and its influential role in deepening and expansion of ties among countries, Rajabi Yazdi asked the friendship associations and their members to play more active role in expansion of Tehran-Budapest cooperation. He referred to the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) as 'valuable' levers of expansion of mutual cooperation, in the cultural domain in particular, and said both Iranian and Hungarian officials are decisive to further expand relations. Rajabi Yazdi made the remarks in meeting of Iran-Hungary Friendship Association. Referring to the last year visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Iran as well as visit of Hungarian parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover to the country two weeks ago, the ambassador said all existing capabilities and capacities should be used to fulfill the intension of the two countries' leaders for expansion of ties. He said that in that concern, friendship association has high capacity to help expansion of bilateral ties. The ambassador touched on sisterhood ties between Budapest and Tehran, Aspirin and Yazd, Shiraz and Pecs and said he had already talked with mayors of these towns on the subject. 1378/IRNA
