GAC Marks International Customs Day

Doha, January 26 (QNA) - The General Authority of Customs (GAC) on Thursday celebrated International Customs Day, which is marked annually on Jan 26, in the presence of HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari along with a number of officials.
Under the theme ‘promoting a culture of knowledge-sharing and professional pride in Customs' the General Authority of Customs marked the day by organizing a series of various events.
The events included a visual presentation on the most prominent achievements of the authority during 2022, the most significant development projects implemented within its role in facilitating customs clearance procedures, and presenting the latest customs data statistics that have been completed at all ports.
GAC also honored its distinguished employees, including customs inspectors who made eminent seizures, graduates of customs officials who hold a Bachelor in Border Management and graduates who hold an Associate of Applied Sciences with a specialization in Customs Management from the Community College of Qatar (CCQ), in addition to partner and cooperating governmental and private agencies.
HE Chairman of GAC Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal said, in a speech during the event, that in line with the World Customs Organization motto for this year, Qatar General Authority of Customs is big on establishing the culture of exchanging knowledge with new staff members. It has also been keen for many years to promote a culture of knowledge exchange at the regional and international levels, by holding many specialized workshops to support the culture of the customs community with all new trends.
His Excellency asserted that GAC is steadily moving towards achieving its objectives in the customs, economic, security and social fields, represented in contributing to maintaining security, developing the trade exchange movement, supporting the investment climate, tackling security and economic challenges and building trust and cooperation with its partners and all its clients. The Authority also seeks to strengthen and consolidate the principle of facilitation in exchange for commitment by developing and simplifying customs procedures. (QNA)
