GECF Secretary General: Azerbaijan has become an international natural gas hub

Baku, May 30, AZERTAC “Azerbaijan has become an international natural gas hub,” Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries (GECF) Forum Yury Sentyurin said in his remarks at the 25th International Caspian Oil and Gas conference’s plenary session on "Key Factors for the Sustainable Future Development: Concept and Innovation" in Baku. He noted that Azerbaijan has contributed to strengthening the activity of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum since joining the organization as an observer. Because Azerbaijan has already become an international natural gas hub and contributes to global energy security. According to Sentyurin, the demand for natural gas will increase by 2040 as well as coal consumption will decrease. This will have a major impact on the growth of demand for liquid gas in Europe and Asia. Natural gas will be the second major energy source after oil.
