Government to improve Thailand’s business facilitation ranking

BANGKOK, Nov 21 (TNA) -- The government has ordered relevant organisations to further improve services for businesses to gain a better ranking from the Doing Business 2018 ratings of the World Bank. Kobsak Pootrakul, vice minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, said the cabinet set 11 goals for a better business facilitation ranking up from Thailand’s 26th position in the latest Doing Business rankings of the World Bank. The goals include improvement in business registration, application for electricity supply, payment for electricity services and taxes, legislation on commercial collateral, contract enforcement, customs services, land registration and e-filing for convenient lawsuit procedures among business operators. Mr Kobsak said that concerned government organisations would have to work for the goals right away to create noticeable results when the World Bank collected information in May for its next ratings.
