Headline Inflation in Qatar in Q1 Down 1.5 Percent YoY

Doha, May 29 (QNA) - Inflation in the State of Qatar declined of 0.7 percent in the first quarter of 2019 on a quarterly basis, and 1.5 percent on an annual basis. On a quarterly basis, six groups registered a decline bigger than the headline inflation, they were Transport (decrease of 4.6 percent), Recreation and Culture (decrease of 2.9 percent), Health (decrease of 1.0 percent), Restaurant and Hotels (decrease of 0.8 percent), Food and Beverages (decrease of 0.6 percent), Communication (decrease of 0.1 percent). As for the increase in the rate on a quarterly basis, Tobacco increased by 127.2 percent, Miscellaneous goods and services increased by 0.9 percent, Furniture and Home appliances increased by 0.7 percent, clothing and footwear increased by 0.4 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increase by 0.1 percent. On an annual basis, seven groups registered negative growth. Communications was down 11.4 percent, recreation and culture were down 6.3 percent, Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel were down 2.6 percent, transport was down 2.4 percent, food and beverages were down 1.4 percent, clothing and footwear were down 1.0 percent, while restaurants and hotels registered negative growth of 0.2 percent. Five groups recorded positive change on an annual basis, they are tobacco (127.2 percent), education (9.3 percent), furniture and home appliances (1.3 percent), Health (0.1 percent), miscellaneous goods and services (0.1 percent).
