High demand for employees in food, drink businesses

BANGKOK, Feb 26 (TNA) – There is high demand for employees in food and beverage businesses as well as service businesses due to growing tourism in Thailand, a job search website unveiled in its report. Saengduan Tangthammasathit, head of the operation of Jobthai.com website said that the job search website analysed its database on the labour demand in the country during the first quarter of this year. It found that the food and beverage businesses have highest demand for employees with about 8,800-9,000 job positions available, followed by service businesses with the demand for 8600-8900 employees. According to Jobthai.com, employees in food and beverage sector are in high demand owing to continuous growth in the tourism sector. Chinese visitor numbers were recovering strongly. Moreover, airline route expansion, connecting secondary Chinese towns and Thailand also contributed to high numbers of Chinese tourists, travelling to Thailand. Domestic tourism also grew well, resulting from the government’s promotion of secondary destinations in 55 provinces. Other business sectors which also look for more employees are retailed businesses (about 7,300 -7,400 job vacancies), automotive and auto parts businesses (about 6,300-6,600 job vacancies)and construction businesses (5,200-5,600 job vacancies)respectively. The growth in these three businesses have been supported by the government’s measure to stimulate household spending and investment in infrastructure as well as a growth in exports, backed by the recovering world economy.
