Hundreds of SKorean investors attend BOI roadshow in Seoul
SEOUL, March 27 (TNA) - Over 500 South Korean investors attended a roadshow cum a seminar entitled “Unbeatable Thailand, Unparalleled Opportunities:Business Environment and Investment Policies”, organized by the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) here, on Monday, coinciding with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s four-day visit to the country from March 24-27.
The some 520 business operators attending the BOI's events, aimed to provide the South Korean business community with detailed information on Thailand’s water management plans and business potential, represented both current and prospective investors in the Thai economy.
In his keynote speech at the twin events, Thai Industry Minister M.R. Pongsvas Svasti affirmed that Thailand's economic fundamentals have remained strong, despite having gone through economic and flooding crises.
Pongsvas said that the Thai government’s 350-billion-baht water management and flood prevention projects, as well as the private sector’s flood-rehabilitation spending will further stimulate the Thai economy.
The industry minister assessed that the Thai economy should grow by up to 6.5 percent this year, although the country's flooding crisis late last year caused a contraction to the Thai economy by 9 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2011.
The industry minister later told journalists that Thailand’s investment promotion incentives appeared to have drawn enormous attention from the South Korean investors attending the BOI's events. (TNA)
