ICT remains key for bahrain’s development

By Nayla Barakat Manama, June 14 (BNA): Information and Communication Technology (ICT) continues to be a crucial part of the future development of the Kingdom’s economy. This was emphasized by Ahmed Al Hujairi, CEO of Gulf Future Business, who said that ICT would be reshaping the global economy and remains a key priority of the Kingdom’s to create a knowledge-based economy. Al Hujairi was speaking to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the MEET ICT Bahrain 2022 and BiTEX 2022. Several telecom operators, ICT companies, IT vendors, technology service providers and Bahrain’s telecom operator Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) are taking part in the event. Al Hujairi said that it was a proud moment for them to bring back MEET ICT and BiTEX to Bahrain after a pause due to the pandemic. “We have around 500 delegates participating in the event today and it certainly shows the eagerness of the businesses to be back after a long pause with the pandemic,” he said. “The event is attended by a large crowd of participants, exhibitors and delegates who will be able to network, communicate, do business, and learn from each other. We see this event as potential for the economic growth of businesses in Bahrain because ICT is a major contributor to any national economy today and we want ICT to contribute very positively to the economy of Bahrain.”
