Indonesia Increases Airport Taxes

JAKARTA, March 31 (Bernama) -- Indonesia's airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura II, will raise airport taxes at seven airports, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, by between US$0.75 (Rp10,000) and US$1.50 (Rp20,000) from April 1, 2016. In a statement Wednesday, the operator said the increase was in line with the improved public facilities provided at these aiports. "The last time we raised the taxes was six years ago," it said. The company also gave an assurance the increase would not affect flight ticket prices. Besides Soerkarno-Hatta International Airport, the other six are Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang), Minangkabau Airport (Padang), Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport (Aceh), Supadio Airport (Pontianak, West Kalimantan) and Selangit Aiport (North Sumatera). --BERNAMA
